If you want a fully heated, insulated four-season room, that is a construction project and we will say so. But most people asking about sunrooms want four things: light, a place to sit that feels outside, extended seasons, and no bugs. Sunroom, solarium, three-season room
People walk into the consultation using all three words, and they usually mean the same thing: a bright room that feels like being outside. Strictly speaking a solarium is the glassiest version of the idea, glass on the walls and often overhead, which is why the word shows up more in Canada and northern Europe where these rooms have been standard for decades. A sunroom is the everyday North American term. A three-season room describes when you use it rather than what it is made of.
