The Lumon Canada years
The short version
Eric sold some of the very first Lumon enclosures in North America.
In 2011, Eric and one colleague worked as the first two salesmen in Lumon's first Canadian office in Toronto, introducing a Finnish product nobody on this continent had heard of. Lumon had been building retractable glass walls since 1978. In the Nordic countries a glazed porch is simply how you live with a real winter. It took a while to explain that here. Then it didn't. Lumon Canada grew past 120 people across multiple cities, in short order.
Eric and Riina both come from Finnish families of ten kids. They met in northern Minnesota, and after living in Canada for 17 years they decided their next move: bring the product they knew best to the state they wanted to finish raising their family in. NordicSol is that decision.
The family
Eleven people, a ranch, and a wood-fired sauna.
The Koskis live on a small farm west of the Twin Cities with sugar maples, an orchard, ponds, chickens, two dogs, and a small herd of beef cattle. Dinner is at the table every night, and each kid gets to share something about their day.
The cedar sauna out back is wood-fired, because some Finnish traditions are not negotiable. Neither is the one NordicSol is built on: the belief that a porch should not sit empty for eight months a year.
When we come to measure your porch, this is who shows up. A family business, our own crews, and a product we grew up with.
